Quran Recitation

Participants will be asked to recite one surah from Surah Al-Kawthar to Surah An-Naas.

Grades 1-2

Quran Recitation

Participants will be asked to recite one surah from Surah Al-Adiyat to Surah An-Naas and Surah Al-Fatihah.

Grades 3-4

Quran Recitation

Participants will be asked to recite one surah from Surah Ad-Duha to Surah An-Naas. They will then be asked two questions on the meaning of some verses or phrases from this  list of selected words/phrases/ayat

Grade 5

Quiz

Participants will be given a quiz containing 20-25 multiple choice, T/F, and short answer questions on the topic of ‘Knowing the True Lord’. In particular, the Quiz will test reading and comprehension of the following contents:

Grade 6

Quiz

  • Participants will be given a quiz containing 20-25 multiple choice, T/F, and short answer questions on the topic of ‘The True Deen’. In particular, the Quiz will test reading and comprehension of the following book: My Faith Islam vol 5, page 1-132

Grade 7

Quiz

  • Participants will be given a quiz containing 20-25 multiple choice, T/F, and short answer questions on the topic of “The True Messengers”. In particular, the Quiz will test reading and comprehension of the following book: Stories of the Prophets by Syed Abul Hassan Nadwi

Grade 8

Quiz

Participants will be given a quiz containing 20-25 multiple choice, T/F, and short answer questions on the topic of “Truth about Muslim Civilization”. In particular, the Quiz will test reading and comprehension of the following book: 1001-Inventions-The-Enduring-Legacy-Of-Muslim-Civilization.

Grades 9-10

Digital Video

Articulating the Truth– Perception in the Media vs Reality

  • Using ProCreate, PhotoShop, iMovie, DaVinci Resolve, PowerPoint, or any other video editing tool, participants will create a digital video clip of 3-5 minutes 
  • Participants will choose a misconception/perception that is prevalent in media/society about Islam. They will then identify the Truth and reality and refute that perception using a short video of 3 to 5  minutes.
    Format: They say … But the Truth is … Here is the proof.
  • Video needs to be submitted by August 14, 2025 to info@lets-read.org

Grades 11-12

‘Truth Matters’ Observatory 

Build a ‘Promote Truth, Refute Falsehood’  observatory (a portal, website/webpage, or app) that will have any TWO of the following 4 components:

    • AwarenessWhy people need to be vigilant when they deal with news/views?
    • Best PracticesWhat should they do to protect against misinformation/disinformation from the perspectives of ethics/morality, civic responsibility, and media literacy?
    • Fake Detection ToolboxHow can people use some tools, data/evidence in your chosen topic area to  discern reality from fiction, truth from falsehood?
    • Debunking Viral Mis/DisinformationWhere to find authentic refutation of the specific misconception & How to act on that?

While there would be some generic approach, your product should be focused on the misinformation/disinformation on any one of the following topic areas:

  1. Qur’anic Worldview
  2. Religious Harmony and Tolerance
  3. Education, Science, Technology, and Religion
  4. Islam and Modernity
  5. Women in Islam
  6. History and Civilization
